Margo Harris has extensive experience in commercial law within Australia and internationally, having practised law in the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales.  Internationally, she worked in London for 5 years including court and arbitration work, which involved disputes within the UK, Europe, USA, the Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and South America.  Even before working in Europe, Margo's work involved disputes and commercial transactions in China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, PNG, the Cook Islands, the Solomon Islands.  

Upon her return to Australia in 2007, Margo has worked as in-house counsel at Tabcorp, working on both litigious and commercial matters about racing industry agreements and licences, trade practices issues, intellectual property, sports agreements and distribution networks, before coming to the Victorian Bar in 2011.

The colourful world of racing adds to Margo's experience across a number of commercial industries including shipping, aviation, rail, energy infrastructure, construction, international trade, fishing rights, waste management, trade practices, general insurance, torts, public authorities and debt recovery.

Her clients have included the United Nations, AusAid, Lloyds of London, shipowner P&I clubs, insurance companies, charterers, freight forwarders, shipyards, joint venture parties, financiers, tenderers of major infrastructure, start up and established businesses and industry groups.

Since coming to the Victorian Bar in 2011, Margo has been briefed to appear in:

- Supreme, County and Magistrates' Courts in Victoria

- Federal Court of Australia

- Supreme Court of New South Wales

- Court of Appeal in New South Wales

- District Court of Western Australia

Margo's briefs have included trade practices disputes, trust disputes (acting for trustees and beneficiaries), adverse possession of land, disputes about guarantees, negligence actions against local councils; telecommunication supply and agency disputes, defending oppressive conduct for corporations, partnership disputes, supply of services disputes, international trade matters, debt recovery; recovery of assets, and defendant insurance work.
