Before coming to the Victorian Bar, Dean practised for five years at the Bar of England & Wales in the Chambers of Lord Carlile of Berriew QC (as it then was). He specialised in tax offence litigation, insolvency, regulatory proceedings, the restraint and confiscation of the proceeds of crime, and commercial crime. Dean retains a door-tenancy at 9-12 Bell Yard Chambers, London.
