Hamish has a general commercial practice and appears in proceedings in all jurisdictions including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Courts in Victoria and interstate. Specifically, Hamish appears in the following types of matters:

  • General commercial disputes concerning banking & finance law, contractual, equitable, property and trade practices claims

  • Corporations and insolvency law matters including managed investment scheme litigation

  • Admiralty/maritime law matters including ship arrests, cargo damage claims (rail, road and marine transport), charterparty disputes and applications to enforce foreign arbitral awards

  • Class actions

  • Aviation law matters

  • Insurance law matters including indemnity disputes concerning fraud and non-disclosure

  • Appeals.

Hamish has also been briefed in arbitrations concerning international commercial disputes, and is a member of MLAANZ.

Since 2000, Hamish has been a law reporter for the Victorian Reports.
